More bracing than Skegness! |
Starting at Buenos Aries we travelled South to Ushuaia, the capital of Tierra del Fuego. After rounding Cape Horn we crossed the infamous Drake's Passage to explore the Antarctic Peninsular concentrating on the Schollert Channel, Paradise Bay and the Gerlache Straight. A northerly route was then taken past the South Shetlands to Elephant Island. The Falkland Islands, Puerto Madryn ( off the Patagonian Coast) and Montevideo, Uruguay were visited before our return to Buenos Aries.
This blog is a Photographic Record of this incredible journey; the images are roughly in chronological order.

Our total bird count was well over one hundred. Sea watching produced 4 Albatross species, 10 Petrels, 4 Shearwaters and 12 others. We managed five penguin species missing out on Emperor( as expected) and Adelie.
Our key sightings of non-bird life were Killer Whales, Leopard Seals and three other whale species.
The distance travelled was 4466 Nautical Miles.
Please enjoy.
